Default Looking for help with stall problem

2001 durango r/t

if i drive through a puddle of water at a decent speed the truck stalls out also if i get a drive through car wash with under spray it also stalls but when its raining out nothing, when this happens i get the error code 0123 for TPS but how would a puddle or under spray a bit of water stall me out like that? any input would be great thanks

sounds to me like you have water getting into a sensor on the underside of the vehicle and shorting it out, check the tps connector (since that code comes up) and follow the wires down, maybe there is a bare spot on them at some point in the wire loom which gets wet and causes the problem

Yeah, I believe there is a short in the wiring related to the TPS that is shorting to ground. Make sure the TPS on the side of the throttle body is secured on tightly because if it's not secure enough or something when it rocks it will cause it to stall.

You might wanna replace the TPS.

I'd go ahead and replace the TPS. If it sputters/misfires and then dies when it gets wet, you most likely have water getting in the distributor which is also common.

Next time it gets wet and won't start, get a hair dryer on the distributor cap, ignition coil, and spark plug wires. Do each one seperately and see what you issue is. It could just be bad spark plug wires shorting out.

Could be a Cam sensor or alternator issue.
