Default msd6a

Mine just died and I'm considering a new one. This one wasn't digital, which I plan on getting this time around. My question is, should I get one or stay with the factory set up. I can't say I noticed a difference, but that doesn't mean it didn't help having it.

msd6a? want to share what this part number (i assume) is for, not all of us know part numbers off the top of our heads

quick google search revealed that its an msd ignition box . . .

The 6A is an MSD product line shrp, so to some that are familiar with it, the 6A is simply the line for most V8 engines.

Are you sure you installed it correctly? Usually the MSD system is noticeable by a long shot. The digital wouldn't give you much added power or anything over the 6A.

First do you have at least 8.5mm wires because the conductivity of less than 8.5mm is not adequate enough for Multiple Spark Discharge. Also you do have the complete setup with MSD distributor and have the advance/retard calibrated correctly?

Another thing that you should have with the MSD setup is the Blaster 2 coil. If you don't have this, that is why you're not noticing it like you should.

I have the 6A setup on mine and it made a huge difference on my burn. Uses less gas and substantially more power sustained at high RPMs.

WW00, you use the 6A red box and the Blaster canister?

I have them new, sitting in my garage for years, just worried about smoking the wires and the PCM.

Was the install easy? Lot's of wires to deal with it looks like. Did you set it up for an easy swap back to stock "just in case"? Really saw performance gains? Really?

Maybe I need to go ahead and install mine.

Yes Indy I installed the performance distributor as well as the 6A box. It was somewhat of a complicating install but not nearly as complicating as some other things. I did notice performance gains around 3,000 RPM and I get a quicker jump off the line and a better burn so less wasted gas.

If you do it, mount it inside the cab. These boxes are known for issues with water even though they state it's water-proof. Also I have Champion Iridium gapped to .044 because of the multiple spark and more steady spark.

Hydra also had this on his Durango but his was the caveman one where he had to do a mile of wiring and do it the hard way.

Depending on your setup you got, you might have the one that's somewhat easy to install (easy being relative) and if that's the case, it's completely reversible by just undoing what you did. Like I said Indy, be sure you use [b]at least 8.5mm wires so the conductivity is high and it doesn't burn up the wires.

I have the Davis Unified Ignition 10mm wires in mine as of a couple days ago. Not much difference noticed over the Mopar Performance wires but definitely keeps my mind at ease.

I have Magnecor 7mm Electrosports on mine. No way am I installing the 6 inside the cab.
