New tires
So I thought I'd get the community to help me out on this one. Im in need of tires new tires. So I went on craigslist and found these. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/pts/2276143159.html
I'm almost positive they should fit and I should be able to talk him down from asking price. What do you guys think any concerns?

+2 Sharps and +3 Dan. New tires, if nothing else you have piece of mind in knowing where they came from and the history behind them. My personal recommendation is Michelin X Radial LT 2nd Generation. Costco if you have membership preferred since they use nitrogen but even if you use Tire Rack Michelin is a good start.
Agreed, I'd only buy a used tire if I needed just one to get me through a set, but new is the way to go for all 4 or even just 2, and the warrenty and road hazzard plans alone will pay for themselves during the life if your tires. I know someone who bought used cheap tires not knowing the belts inside were seperated (why they were so cheap probably) so they had quite a "lumpy bumpy" ride as I described it to them.
I recently replaced my Michelin X-Rads with another set of the same. Costco was even nice enough to take the best one of the set being replaced and move that to the spare location so now I have all the same size and brand even the spare.

Just chiming in with an opposing opinion.
New tires are obviously better, nobody in their right mind is going to argue with that, but I've bought used tires from time to time my entire life and never had any problems with them. Sometimes when money's tight and new tires are $200 each, a $50 pair of used tires can be a perfectly fine way to get you by for a few months while you save up the funds to do it right.... (Then again, I've always gotten my used tires from tire shops that I knew well and could trust to pick me out something halfway decent, never bought any privately...)

At $350 for the four, that's $87.50 per tire. You can buy new tires from Tire Rack for that price (ignore the wheels as you can't use them!). I suspect your local tire shop will have similar deals. Also, living in San Jose, you don't have to worry about tires for ice and snow like many of us living in the frozen north!
But I agree with many others - if money is tight, tire shops do sell good used tires. They don't advertise it because they prefer to sell new.
Also, I always do a 5 tire rotation. The spare goes on the rear left. Doing it this way, I got 80,000 miles from my Toyo AT tires - that's 64k per tire
I now have Michellin LTX M/S which are pricey, but far more comfortable on the road.
