Question 2001 4.7 engine swap questions

Can i swap a 4.7 dodge durango engine for a 5.9 . can this be done or not and hard would this be.

Yes it can be done, however both engines use two diffrent transmissions, so those will have to swap out too. The transfer case bolts up to either transmission so you can keep that. You will need to move a ton of wiring because the PCM will also need to be replaced. Your best bet is to locate a 5.9 engine and PCM from a 2001+ model and use that.

thank you for your help do you know where i can get the motor and trany at a reasonable rate iam disabled and live on a fixed income

I'd just check out salvage yards, but not too many shops, if any, would tackle a project that large and crazy, it's more for the hobby diy guy.

it can be done, but as stated you will need to swap the following (i think he missed a couple things)

1.engin
2.transmission
3.wire harness
4. i believe the motor mounts are different
5.computer is different
6. im pretty sure there is something else, but i cant think of it off the top of my head, but its going to be a HUGE project, just so you know what you are getting into before you start

There is NOT going to be a cheap way to swap a 4.7L to a 5.9L on a buget!........no way, no how! Just buy a new motor or rebuild yours.
