Default Replacement Driving Light Bulbs

I have been looking into some replacment light bulbs for the front headlights. Been looking all over to see if I can find some bulbs that can come close to HID lights. I saw some people selling those euro bulbs that are supposedly DOT approved and have a 8500k rating. But am still unsure if I can trust the 8500k rating.

Anyone tried any 9007 bulbs that really have a bright white or light bluish light that nearly looks like HID? I seen Silverstars and looking at the headlights, it still looks like clean bright halogens but when it lights up the road, it really gives it a near white color.

You know now that I think of it, I have a set of Farenheit 9007 headlights I yanked out of my Stratus before I traded it for my Durango. They are the blue tint kind and they really lit up the road! I have been so strapped for time and all that I haven't even had the chance to look and see what type of bulbs my Durango has. I seen you posted 9007, is this what they have? By the way I have a 2003 Durango R/T.

I have a set of Silverstars on my 2000 Durango R/T and I am pretty sure that all 1st generation Durango's uses 9007. I love the silverstars and the super bright white it puts out on the road but I like to have the very whiteish with a hint of blue tint luminating from the lenses. Thse EBay advertised 8500k luminence blue bulbs for $13 bucks a pair sounds too good to be true compared to the $50 silverstar pair that has a near 5000k luminence.

Also, does the clear lens make a huge difference in how the light shines the road compared to the OEM's?

Also, another question, why is it that it is damn near impossible to find replacement OEM fog lights for the 2000 year model? I found out that 98-99, then 2000, and finally 2001-2003 all uses different mount assemblies. Wonder why? On Ebay, I can see them selling OEM fog lights for every year EXCEPT for the year 2000.

Knowing this is the case, does anyone know if there are any aftermarket brand fog lights that can utilize the original OEM mounting locations? I don't have the type of tools to do redrilling/and modifications to make it fit and rather go the OEM route if I have to go thru all this trouble to mount aftermarkets. Currrently both my OEM fog lights lenses are cracked and moisture seeped in and ruined the refractive surface on the lenses rendering them useless.

I recently had to replace one of my fog light assemblies on my '03. I bought mine off of Ebay through Car Parts Wholesale (1-866-828-4322) as they had, by far, the very best price at $36. I didn't see one in their store for your year Durango, but might be worth a phone call. The dealer wanted just over $100! For one little fog light! I had to go out and check to make sure the other one wasn't made of gold! After I stopped laughing at the parts guy, I got the part # from him and started searching the internet. I use the dealer to find specific part #'s and then take my business elsewhere whenever possible as they are really proud of their parts. Hope this helps you out a bit. Good luck.

Yippers, I called the dealership to get a price for my fog lights and they sayed it would cost $150 each just for the fog light housing. They told me it would be cheaper to buy a complete set with harness for around $225. Just don't know why they are so damn expensive!!! For those that want to know, when I bought my 2000 Durango R/T used, it was missing the electrical tow harness socket, I don't know why the original owner would want to keep it as it is OEM and only fits Dodge vehicles. Dealer wants $130 bucks for that electrical tow harness socket.

I did find a OEM 2000 fog light Ebay but that person only had one and it was sold and gone the same day! damn!
