Default Transmission problems, 99 Durango.

Alright, here goes my story.

I have a 99 Dodge Durango, 5.9 L 360 Magnum. The 4 speed automatic transmission. Check engine light is on, both codes are the shift solenoid, one is in the engine compartment at the main fuse block, the other is inside the transmission. Forgot the code numbers.

When it's cold outside it shifts fine, when it warms up it drops back into 3rd gear and stays there. I have no OD, have actually never felt it kick on.

Replaced the solenoid inside the engine compartment, no joy. Have the one for inside the transmission, going to do it hopefully this week. I've been told if this does not cure it, it could either be the PCM or I may need a new transmission all together.

Just wondering if anyone has any insight into this problem, I get multiple answers when I ask people and just looking for some new information.

Default Update.

Well, my luck is not that great. Changed out the shift solenoid, and the filter. New type 4 transmission fluid... and still sitting in third with no hint of it wanting to shift. Still shifts at the column like a champ though.

Guess next option is to either check the PCM, need to figure out exactly how. Or keep driving it till I can find a transmission to toss in it.

Anyone have any advice?

Its good to send me a pm, Because I spend most of my time in the van section. It sound like you have low line pressure going to the overdrive piston. You would need to hook up a 300 psi pressure gauge and ck the line pressure. If you need information on how to perform a line pressure test. Let me know. I will be out of town until monday night.
