4 wheel drive question.
Hi Guys,
I have a 2001 R/T with AWD.This morning there was 6 inches of snow. Started my truck in the garage and put it in 4-wheel drive and took it out of overdrive. It is appox. 1/2 mile to the state highway and the truck performed fine in 4WD. Stopped at the stop sign, made a right turn and started to accelerate.....Heard a grinding noise kind of like gears grinding, took it out of 4WD AND put it back in AWD. The truck ran and shifted fine. Drove home on the interstate at 80 mph in AWD...no problems. Got to my right hand turn off, slowed to 20 mph, put it in 4WD and took it out of overdrive. As soon as I made the turn I heard a bang...Like it was trying to engage 4WD. I am at a loss at to what is going on.
Any help would be appriciated,

the slight grinding you heard is probably just the gears straining w/ the locked up driveline, and if you put it into 4wd while turning you are doing it wrong and you will hear bad noises (including bangs) try it again while driving in a straight line for a couple hundred feet before turning (couple hundred is probably way more than needed, but to be safe) and see if it still makes the noise
