Default 01' dodge durango 4.7lt v8 steering problems

hey, can anyone helpme. im dumbfouynded on what to do next. when i make sharp turns (left and right, mostly right) my wheel feels like its going to lock up, almost if my abs is kicking in. it feels like it almost "hops". i replaced the power steering pump yesterday, and still the same problems. my tires are in ok/perfect condition, no rubbing or wear marks. no warning lights are on.what should i check out, or do? thanks for any help

its awd. mainly when turning in town, not bad when at driving speed. i replaced the brakes 6 months ago. it almost feels like abs is going out, but no sign of it.

samnben has the right idea, lift 1 of the front tires off the ground and make sure it spins, if it locks up then your t-case is stuck in 4WD high.

I had the same problem with my Durango a year ago. It was the intermediate shaft (connects the stering sheel to the steering box). THis shaft has a u joint in it an is designed to collapse in a crash. Cost me ~200.00 to have it replaced.

He said it was an AWD and with it being a 4.7L then it would have to be a Canadian model.

I would check the lower ball joints and front end gear fluid.

What shift positions does your switch let you switch between?
