Default Under the dash rattle

2001 Durango R/T with 111,000 miles

I have been chasing a passenger side rattle since the second day we arrived in Florida. I have traced it to the HVAC/Heater core housing by the passenger feet area. I think bolts or nuts worked loose enough to make the thing rattle. I can slightly move it by hand and duplicate the sound. I can put pressure on it, pulling or pushing and the sound goes away. Everything works, A/C, heat, defrost and so on. If there are bolts do they run through the firewall and where?

The day we arrived it was fine. The next morning I make a run to the store and I hear this annoying noise.

Thanks in advance

I don't know what the hell is going on but the wife and I took a drive to see about getting our Florida DL's today. All the way there I could hear the rattle. I park, we go inside. We leave and there is no rattle going down the road. Oh well, it will probably come back some time.

It sounds to me like there's something loose but it's not loose enough to cause any sort of problem that I'd worry about. Welcome to Florida by the way! I just moved back down here in February and my family is loving it!

AH! I actually just got back from the Pinellas Park Wal-Mart off of US-19! LOL

My work is also right down the street from Pinellas Park, it's Suncoast Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep and you just follow Park Blvd. down and you can't miss it. In case you ever have any questions or dealer only parts you need a price on just ask and I work Monday thru Saturday so I could check on it for you.

We found that Wal-Mart and have shopped there numerous times in the past two weeks we've been down here. Love the Supercenter store.

On the dealer only parts, thanks. I will remember you if I need something.

BTW, We love it down here too. Beats the hell out of south side of Chicago where we're from.

The rattle is back. When I push or pull on the housing under the dash the rattle quits. I can't find any thing loose, this is driving me nuts.

I drove it one day and all was fine. Jump in it the next moring and there is a rattle. I am wondering if something crawled in there and died.

Is it a 4.7? If so, you may just need to feed the gerbils. They get angry and loud at feeding time.
