Default Engine light code p0301

Please help, I have a 1998 Dodge Durango 5.2 engine with 138,000 miles. Recently my engine light turns on. I checked on the code and it is p0301. I have replaced distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs/cables. The engine lights still goes on. Can someone tell me where next to look for. Thank you in advance. hawthorne

P0301 Cylinder #1 Misfire
try putting some injector cleaner in the tank, or swapping the injector from the #1 cylinder to the #2 and see if the code follows it and let us know

also i hope you used the cheap champion copper core plugs(gapped to .040), they run the best in these trucks

Yep and I'd also check the plug wire and make sure the boot is fully seated on the plug. It sounds stupid but I've had more than one person come in with your symptom that it was as stupid as taking the boot off plug #1 and puting it back on.

True that on hoping you used Champion Copper because if not that could be the problem. If you just forgot to gap that plug too, it could be your problem. Plugs don't come pre-gapped.

Thank you for your advice, I will put a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank and swap injectors. Will let you know the outcome.

Just wanted to update you regarding the recurrance of engine light turning on. I placed a bottle of injector cleaner in a tank full and ran half tank. The engine light came on once but turned off by itself. So I placed another bottle of injector cleaner in my second refill of gas. I have driven 150 miles and the light has not turned on yet. I am hoping that this resolve my problem. Thank you for your advise.

Did you replace the Spark Plugs with Champion Copper and gap at .040?

I spoke too soon. Today my engine light turned on while driving for five miles. So now I think the injection cleaner did not solve the issue. I will now switch 1 and 2 injector and observe. Will advise you during the week. Thank you.
