Default intermediate steering shaft question.

Hey all got a quick question.I need to get new steering shaft and a place says they can get one for 150$ for 4x4..Dealer wants 408$..Is there a knock off one out there that is cheaper?I see cheaper ones on ebay for 4x2,and one for 4x4 for 280$ shipped but need now to get safety.thanks kyle

If you can't wait for an online delivery, you'll have to go with the dealer. I would try another dealership though because that sounds like full MSRP. (Unless you want to try a salvage yard)
What year is it? There was a change around 2000.

If you had a 2001, it would be less expensive... Sucks huh! If you're just looking to save money, you could try this one. It looks like a Canadian company. Who knows about the craftsmanship of the part though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STEER...#ht_1661wt_748

I have a 2002, so mine is a little different (i'm actually going to change mine out this afternoon as well). So, I'm working on assumptions when I say this but... I would do the whole assembly on yours. It looks like they are connected by a u-joint so it may actually be easier to do it all at once anyway. You probably don't need to pull the steering wheel, I think you can get to it from driveside floorboard. Just be careful not to let the steering wheel move at all while the shaft is off. Otherwise your clockspring will be misaligned with your shaft.
