Default remove/Replace Intake Resonator/Air Hat 5.2

I installed a CAI today on my '98 Durango with a 5.2. Only problem is, I don't get the 'growl' I desired unless its at WOT. I have a friend that has a Dodge Ram with the 4.7 that emits quite a growl even at cursing speeds. On the 4.7 it seems that you can remove the silencer completely and place the pipe right over the intake. (https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...it-or-not.html) The design of the 5.2 seems to be different. Is there any way to remove it? Some kind of adapter, or replacement air hat that will allow more sound out?

you get the growl with the 5.2 at a little higher rpm... what did you go with for your CAI?

Wanted the official K&N intake system, but couldn't justify $350 for it.

Kind of a bummer it isn't louder. Thats what I bought it for primarily. My fuel economy is actually less now I'm sure. Why you may ask? Well, I have to slam on the gas to hear it! :P
