Default 99 Durango wont start.

Hello I have a 99 Durango 5.2 4x4. I just had the transmission rebuilt and i installed it. The engine turns over but i have no fire from the coil wire and gas just trickles out the rail when I checked for pressure. The battery is new, fuses all checked out ok. I was wondering is there a sensor on the transmission that enables it from starting? or if you guys have other suggestions on what the problem might be.

i would start by checking relays, there is one for the fuel pump and i would expect one for the coil, and there should also be an ASD relay, i would start with the ASD relay if you have no fuel and no spark.

when you say you checked the coil i assume you did this by putting a plug in the coil wire and holding it to the block while someone cranked the engine over to see if the plug sparked?? if not give this a try both at the end of a plug wire and at the end of the wire that goes from the coil to the distributor.

as far as a sensor on the trans that will stop the truck from starting, the closest thing i can think of is the nuetral saftey switch (i think thats what it was called in the first part of the generation) which is supposed to allow the truck to start in park and nuetral ONLY.

Check the Crank Sensor (back side of the motor passenger side).

Next follow your fuel line and look for a crimp from installing the trans.

I checked the ASD relay its good. I checked for power to ignition coil it is not getting power to it. I also checked to see if MAP sensor was getting power to it and it isn't. I rented a autoscanner to check the codes and it would just say error and not register anything so I was wondering if it could be the PCM. I will check the Crank sensor tomorrow, thanks guys for your input.

Check the wiring at the PCM. Make sure all the plugs are secure and in place.

I have checked the wiring at the PCM all is good there. Hyrda mentioned the Crank Sensor will that not allow fuel pump to work if it is bad? I checked all the lines after i put transmission in i don't think they are crimped but I will double check them to make sure. Thanks

No a crank sensor will not stop a fuel pump, however the main fuse in the PDC would!
