Hey guys I did a bit of searching and couldn't find an answer to my problem so I figured I would ask you guys.
AS I have stated before I have a 1999 Dodge Durango SLT 4x4 with a 5.9 V8 Magnum. About a week ago, I had a problem where it refused to start. It would turn over, but not start. I had it towed to my local shop and it turned out to be the ignition coil. After that if worked just fine. However today I came out after working out at the gym and it turned over however didn't start, but after releasing the key, I could still hear the starter spinning for a few seconds. After about 2-3 minutes I raised the hood and tugged on the battery cables in a bit of frustation, then the Durango started like nothing happened and drove home just fine...
Any idea what might be the problem???

loose wire or bad starter you need to get under and have a look check the battery connection too

 

That's what I thought might be the problem as well, it's just been to damn hot to crawl underneath it today. It'll have to wait till the morning when it's not 105 degrees outside...

Likely a loose battery connection to whatever cable you pulled on. If it tugged at all that should have been your sign there because the battery cable is supposed to be seated and locked in place very firm on the battery posts.

 

That's the thing, the cable didn't wiggle at all, I just wiggled the positive cable thinking that maybe it was loose on the end connected to the starter, since it started after that maybe it was and that fixed the problem at that moment.
Tomorrow will tell I suppose...

Could just be a bad connection in the wire. Replace the main positive cable and your problems will be solved more than likely.

 

+1 i think you have some broken or on thier way to being broken battery cables... had this problem on my first car... ended up the cable had been broken inside the housing and would only touch sometimes...

 

Well the wire to the starter only provides power to it, however the reverse side comes out of the PDC. In the PDC the power is transferred to the ignition and PCM components. Thus I'm thinking more along the line of an Auto Shut Down Relay or a Fuel Pump Relay.

 

How would I go about checking those relays to see if they are messed up? Test light?

Just swap those 2 relays with ones of the same number that you know work like the horn. If the problem alleviates then there is your problem.
