I should have clarified I have to pay it all, books and everything, but unlike you guys I'm living at home for the first 2 yrs. Then off somewhere for either chemical or petroleum engineering. Good for you for actually working for what you have shrps. It always annoyed me the kids who got brand new vehicles. They were usually trashed in the first 2 months.

Back to the oil thing, I usually go 10k and the oil is still a nice brown color when I change it, but at $13 a quart and another $18 for the filter it should be good.(Amsoil)

+1 adukart I'm in the same boat as shrp as far as where i got my truck. But i do hate seeing people who get things handed to them without knowing what they have or caring for what they have.

Thats expensive oil Amsoil really that good that you pay 13 bucks a quart? and what filter do you use thats 18 bucks? you're talking about a 80+ dollar oil change guess its only like once a year though.

wow im glad im not the only college kid on here lol... i pay for my gas, oil, filters, fluids, etc. i used to go to a college in nebraska but decided that 23000 wasn't worth it to take generals so im back home takin generals at a cc... i pay what i can... parents help where they can although not much cause they have to pay for more than just me so i try not to ask for money... i do what i can arround the house. i maintain all our cars, do yardwork, and housework when im not busy studying. its hard to find an actual job while going to school. oh and about the spoiled rich kids? i hear ya on that one... i worked security and the spoiled rich kids were the ones i would bust the most cause thier out drinking and i catch them, or they get drunk and get thier audi stuck in the middle of a baseball field covered in snow...

anyhow now my real question... 98 durango, 144000 supposed miles on it (no idea how many miles actually cause the engine isn't orriginal), 5.2... do i have anything to worry about if i start goin to full synthetic? and if i do where all could it end up leaking and cause problems if i dont have good seals...

Its an amsoil filter to. The filter is rated at 25,000 miles and so is the oil, so I figure going less than half of that is safe. I put on a lot more than 10k a year now, I live out of town.

Just messin with ya Sharps......

Anyway, that is the same thing I've told my kids. If they want to stay at home after they turn 18 or out of High School that's fine, but they live under my rules (which aren't that stringent) and they either have to go to work and help out the family cause I'm not supporting them at adulthood, or they have to go to collage.

I don't think that's too bad because if they go to school then that saves them A LOT of money in education. Besides, for them to get a full time job on top of that hurts their education.....IMHO

Yeah you should be fine srch i asked sorta the same question lol and yeah thats long lasting oil. Hey shrp is Amsoil whats in your moms BMW?

And yeah i live in a fairly nice upper middle class neighborhood and we got this kid down the street. His grandma gave him her altima which was brand new and he crashed it going 60 down the curvy neighborhood streets. than his mom gave him a 10k dollar limit for a new car. i thought that was nuts. he damaged the front end too on the new monte carlo ss he got. it just got a new front bumper cover on it.

+1 Hydra, I think how you feel about you're kid being an adult and living at home working part time and going to school is normal.

I cant imagine any parent actually kicking their kids out when they turn 18. I know back in the day most people moved out at 18 but i guess times are changing lol.

Old school, that really sucks. Hope your disability isn't to bad!!

And topdogcustoms if i didn't have less than 1k miles on my current oil I'd change it now! lol
