Well I think I'm gonna attempt that partial tranny purge/flush and than hopefully in a week or so do the mobil1 oil change and the bosch filter. And like you said hydra I'll do change it out after 2.5-3k miles or else in 3-4 months just before winter lol

Good info guys think I might actually make my Durango last a good long lifetime haha! hope i didn't jinx anything *knocking on wood* lol

Guess I didn't see that Sharps?

But again that's why I have buying the Bosch lately (which are purolator so far).

So i was at fleet farm today and they sell generic motor oil there for 9.95 on sale now for 7.99 and they also have this generic brand in a synthetic blend for the same price.

Any ideas how this motor oil compares to the rest? i usually buy my oil from oreily like i mentioned and their store brand regular oil is like 15 bucks for a 5 quart jug.

yea hydra atm it appears that bosch filters are made by purolator, however since R&S stopped selling auto supplies and parts to the public (they only do service around here now) powerflo has disappeared from the area im going to end up at pepboys for their store brand, proline, which is the same purolator filter rebadged, and on sale for $2.99, one of the best filters available for the best price

josh, i would use a name brand oil(i like shell dino oil), however any oil should work as they all have to meet the same standards to be approved for sale so it wont do any harm to the engine if money is that tight.

I changed my oil to Mobil-1 FS earlier this month and loving it have a K&N filter on there too.

Well I'm not gonna worry about money to much. its tight in a sense. school loans are building min wage isn't getting and higher =/ and gas is still not on my side. But that's what parents are for right? lol good ol' fall back plan for money haha

In any case i think i'll go with Mobil1 and a better filter. i never realized that filters made a worth noticing/caring difference as far as performance.

there is a guy on youtube that dismantled a bunch of oil filters. I had no idea how poorly constructed some of them are. Fram in particular. When you have a minute do a search for mobil1 fram etc on youtube. Its definately worth a look.

You guys are lucky, I have to pay all my tuition. At least my parents split gas and pay the insurance though.
