actually the plugs in it right now are also champion coppers. The engine burns oil, always has since it was brand new. I guess that fouls up the plugs faster?

Can seafoam mess anything up inside the engine, like gaskets or anything? My dad is real against seafoam and i doubt he'd let me run it in the Durango. It is his truck so he has the final say...

I have done seafoam before on another car but i was dissapointed in how it didnt do much. And i did it exactly how you're supposed to. on a 1999 Saturn with 190k miles on it and no difference in the way it ran.

And lucas really is crap? I mean i know its nothing like taking an injector off and cleaning it, but is it really crap? My dad swears by that stuff. And hydrashocker, how have the MSD and ACCEL ignition parts worked out for you? HAve you noticed a big difference over stock?

Seafoam works good in these trucks, I run it once a year only just to keep my fuel lines clear. Don't believe in "miracles in a can" the only fix for stuff is simply replace or repair/clean manually.

I agree with you guys, yes plugs wear out no matter what you do. I guess I should also say at this point that doing anything none OEM is risky and can have huge consequences. You guys remember the autolite copper guy, I read a thread about a month ago where hydra linked to the thread that got him banned, its amazing how he destroyed his engine with simply using the wrong kind of plug.

Yeah, just plain old copper champion plugs. Just remember to gap them correctly.

I noticed a cleaner better burn which transcribes into a little better fuel mileage and a lot more performance. However I was not OEM and had many other upgrades.

That guy was an asshat. I had to clean that thread up because of his copious mouth and ignorant behavior. I tried to tell him, but when his motor finally blew because of his attitude and defiant behavior he was left on the side of the road. But some people are beyond help.......

Here is the juicy thread you are talking about: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...9-durango.html
And here is one more further explaining it:

Thats the one. I had read the one further explaining it, I think you have it in the diy section and that is where I ran across it. Yeah that guy was a dick, but a great example on how right you guys are and you don't try to steer people wrong. I should add that we don't have an autozone here so it is either the stealership, which is ridiculous on price, o'reillys, or napa. My dad has done so much business with napa so we get a pretty good deal, that is the reason I use stuff from there. Although after 20k or so I'm going to hydra's setup.

Does champion make a platinum plug? Is it worth using or should we just get coppers?

And my dad said if i want to try seafoam, its on me lol. I mean if so many ppl use it and say they notice good results, then why not? The truck has sat sometimes and mostly is used for grocery getting or short trips so carbon builds up like a bitch i bet. My dad just dont trust the seafoam for some reason.

For what it is, it doesnt need high end performance goodies on it. But it wont get cheap crap, just "in the middle" parts i guess.

dont waste your money on the plugs, especially for how simple they are to change out in these trucks its just not worth the increased expense, stick with the champion copper core plugs that are time proven to work.

Yeah, use the coppers. In my owners manual it says every 30k. If you want the better performance all the time change them every 15k-20k instead.
