There is a private party value on kbb, that is usually $1000-$1500 lower on vehicles under 10k than the dealer price is and is much closer to nada.

What I am trying to tell you is KBB is a tool used to further screw potential buyers. I will use an example, not true pricing;

KBB says
2,000 Trade In
2,500 Normal
3,995 Good

NADA says
2,200 Trade In
2,495 Normal
3,800 Good

So using this example, You can see a dealer is going to give you the KBB because they are going to give you less on your trade and make more on the sale. They give him 2,000 on trade and turn around and sell the truck for 3,995 (not to mention what they made on the car they sold you) for a grand total of 200 + 195 = 395 over what NADA wants. Now they know a bank won't loan on this because they use NADA (go ask them yourself) so the dealer tell you they need the 395 as a down payment.

You see, this is nothing but a damn game and they take everyone for a ride with a book to help back up their statements. In fact most of them ask me to go with them every time! The book is built for the industry by the industry. Dude, I LOVE going to car lots with friends and family because I rip those dealers a new *** and take them to school. I know exactly what they are going to say before they have a chance to say it. I know how to cut in, get it on paper, and seal in the absolute lowest pricing by using the rules against them.

What you are talking about is a small issue because we are talking about is such small dollars, however bring a 30k dollar truck in the mix and there are quite a few thousands involved. The other thing is prices change each day, so neither of the consumer editions are right on anyway, you technically need the professional editions.

Trust me, I know. I was just saying KBB was higher as an offhand comment. I've paid cash for my last 10 cars. I'll never finance another car.

This thing must be just PISSING oil into that cylinder. I got some non-foulers, and even when I mate two long ones together, oil still manages to get up inside there within seconds of starting the engine.

If anyone wants this thing to fix, I'm willing to sell for a flexible price. I just don't have time to fix it, it's a nice truck otherwise.
