Default Knocking sound?

So, I've noticed a knocking sound coming from my truck, and it seems to be coming from behind the dash... Or at the very rear of the motor? It's hard to hear if you lift the hood and stand outside... But it's quite easy to hear inside sitting in the drivers seat with the windows rolled up. Maybe something right on the firewall? I don't know... I notice it most while sitting parked after driving for a while.

It does not make the knocking sound all the time. It SEEMS to only happen when it's hot, but that could just be my imagination. Also, it's a very steady and repetitive knock, knock, knock, knock, knock... The knocking sound does NOT increase with engine rpm. It has been doing this for quite some time. It has not gotten worse, it doesn't sound bad, I'm just curious...

I have the same thing on my truck and asked about it and was told by several people to not worrie about it unless it gets worse or start increasing with rpm's ... i was also told that some dodge engines just have a small knock..

Well it's a slight "ping" but it also could be a sign of a blown plenum gasket.

It could be the plenum plate/gasket... I have noticed that I have "disappearing" oil. I have to add about a quart in between oil changes. And there's no oil leak or anything, and the truck doesn't seem to be burning it, it just disappears.

Take off your air hat and look down the throttle body to see if there is oil there. If needed you could take off the tb to make looking easier.
