My D has a kick?
My Durango has an odd issue that only seems to occur (randomly) around 20 to 25 MPH, and only when I take my foot off the accelerator, it gives me a slight kick, almost like a surge forward. After the surge, it immediately goes away. It is hard to duplicate and does not occur all the time. However when it does happen, I am always am driving straight and in 2wd.
Could this possibly be a worn u-joint or a TC issue?
Background: I am the original owner and have 130K on my D and only recently (blushing) did a full replacement of the tranny fluid/filters (which seemed to decrease its occurrence - maybe coincidental). I have had the differential fluids replaced in the past by a local shop - but am not impressed with their work, which is why I am now doing everything myself.
I have not (to my knowledge) drained/refilled the fluid in the TC - will do tomorrow assuming I can grind off one rusted skid plate bolt tomorrow am.

Mine does this on/off as well. sometimes, when slowing, then the tranny or tc kicks and lurks me forward a little. wakes me up to slap the brakes a little harder.
I had my tranny sensor replaced already. I will have to check and find someone that can replace my govenor actuators(sometimes tranny will not go back to 1st gear when rolling to a stop). Most shops in dfw won't touch the tranny other than fluid change and I get the usual answer from tranny shops saying it needs to be rebuilt. Looks like a reputable expensive dealer is the only option for me.

Hydra - will report back later. I ordered an output sensor from RockAuto today...
I replaced the tranny output sensor a couple of weeks ago. Pretty simple job, most difficult part was getting my fat paws above the drive shaft to unbolt the old one. Only a trickle of fluid came out.
It shifts a little smoother, but still have the issue periodically - but not very often. It's hard to get a pulse on something that is not repeatable....

Mine was doin the same and nothing to do with my trans.I figured it out by watching my tach, mine was a surge though, not a kick. The surge was caused by the IAC not seating well from the carbon build up. After I cleaned my IAC and the T/B bore it was gone. More of a running issue than a trans....
Mine has some what the same problem though it's more around 35 to 40 but this i think is due to the trans it just takes forever to shift. i have to go over 40 let off the get back on the gas for it to shift. will do all posted before but sure it's not that thought all good things to due anyway. Anyone have Ideas on what it might be?

Hydra and master tech are the guys to ask about this....I do believe the output speed sensor on your trans can cause a late shift like you described but withthat kinda feathering in the shift it mabe something else. Any other symptoms ? Serviced the tranny yet ??
