Brake Issues
I bought a 2001 Durango,4.7L about a year ago. A while back my brake pedal seemed to stiffen up quite a bit (harder to push than normal). Not too long after that I noticed that when engaging the brakes there was a rythmitic "knock" coming from the front right wheel. And it is kind of hard to explain in words, but at the same time that it "knocks" the brake pedal will give resistance back, resulting in a slight rythmitc resistance and release as I depress the pedal. And then a couple of days ago, I started getting the "Brake" and "ABS" lights coming on. I have tried to pull the codes and there are none that come up.
I have read other posts that have problems with the Brake and ABS lights coming on and I don't have major problems with the speedo (just a few MPH off but assume that is because of slightly bigger tires than stock).
Any help, advice, knowledge and/or expertise would be greatly appreciated. I have just recently used this site and it has been very useful. Thanks in advance.

The abs computer requires a special scan tool. It is called a drbIII I do believe and is like $700. Have you taken the wheel off and looked to see if something is wrong? I would pull the caliper and look for an oddly worn pad ect. I'm not a huge brake expert but that is where I would start. Get us the codes for more assistance. There is a key dance you can do but I don't know if it will work for the abs codes, some one with more experience will chime in.
You cannot pull ABS codes, however some are incorporated into the PCM but I would say not that one. Most likely something has broke on that caliper. Remove and have a look at it or take it to a dealership.
Just so you know the DRB3 went to 3500.00 dollars, And it does read all modules that are the cars or the trucks. If you are getting a knocking sound when applying the brakes, you could have a bad pump, loose caliper, bad rotor, or a loose sensor. I agree with hydra, you may need to go to the dealer to get the codes.
