not unless you have CA emissions, on 48 state vehicles there is 1 pre cat sensor and 1 post cat, the pre cat is the only one which can effect running in any way. do a search on it and this will come up, also dont cheap out on the sensor, buy the denso or dealer part, it will save you the aggravation
It depends on what engine you have. The 5.9 and 5.2 have 2( pre and post cat) the 4.7 has 4. But open your hood and check there should be a sticker on the inside of the hood that tells you.
Most likely your cat is fine.
All the engines have a single O2 sensor on each side of the motor between the exhaust manifold and the cat. Replace both of these sensors.
Now after the cat depending on the emissions state (California emissions package) they also have O2 sensor(s) after the cat. All these do is monitor the efficiency of the cat and do nothing for how it actually runs. The California versions usually have a single cat on each side of the engine and so it has 1 - O2 sensor after the cat on each side, so 2 before and 2 after, normal version engine builds have 2 before the cat and 1 after.
But again, only the pre-CAT sensors actually control how your motor runs.

there are two oxygen sensor setups available, chrysler refers to them as "California", and "except california"
for the "california" systems you are correct, 4 sensors, 2 upstream and 2 downstream.
for the "except california" systems there is ONE upstream O2 sensor and ONE downstream O2 sensor
please refer to the 2002 fsm page 1257-1259 (do some reading)
and based on the 1998 fsm section 14 fuel system. p46 there are only 2 sensors on all 1998 MY trucks
the wiring diagrams from both manuals support this determination, if you would like i will post up which pages you can check in there as well.
please make sure that you know what you are talking about and that it is as close to correct as possible before posting.
I replaced the IAC sensor and same problem. I guess I'll order one o2 sensor next. BTW, How hard are these sensors to remove? Could I just swap the pre and the post for a test? Still no engine codes thrown.
