Can key sentry system be reprogrammed?
2003 Durango SLT, 4.7L V8, AWD
Bought used, only one factory key provided (3rd tier seller). Had an aftermarket programmed key go dead after 1.5yrs. Had another key programmed but does not work (verified good by ACE HW iTool key programmer). Owners manual says only 4 keys can be programmed. It is possible the latest key was the 5th and thus will not work.
Question: Can the key sentry system in the vehicle be re-programmed / reset to allow more keys to be programmed? If so, does that "void" the existing programmed keys? Or...???

Thanks for the welcome.
I ended up taking the vehicle to a shop (not a dealer) that has one of those machines that can read/reprogram the module in the vehicle. Turns out the module showed only two keys had been programmed. No idea why the second key from Ace was not recognized. Found out that the iTool used by Ace just makes a copy of the key it reads, rather than programming a new one as the manual describes.
In the end the shop bought a blank key through a dealer and programmed it using their machine. Since the shop does not subscribe to the Chrysler network they did not have software or code(s) to reset the key count in the module. So now the module in the vehicle shows 3 keys programmed. On the plus side, the shop was able to verify no fault codes were set in the module indicating the module is healthy.
