Default Turn Signal Problem Making Odometer Flash?

I just purchased a used 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 & the other day, when I turned on the left turn signal, the odometer starting flashing with the signal. Then tonight when I turned on the left turn signal, it stayed lit, both on the dash & the rear light. Another time when I turned on the left signal, both the left & right would flash, but the left one was brighter. Would a bad relay cause this problem? Or could I possibly have a short somewhere? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to DF
It very could be a relay. I would check all the bulbs first before replacing the combo relay. If you need to find the relay, just switch on the 4 way flashers.

I would replace the multi-flasher, well it's the same thing Master is talking about. I think yours is in the drivers side dash compartment or up behind it.

Thanks for the help, Master Tech & Hydra. I'm picking up a turn signal relay today....now the question is, how do I install it myself? Do I need to unhook the battery cables to do it?

Nope, just pull the old one out and push the new one in.

+1 Master

Just go to Auto Zone or your favorite auto parts store including the dealer and get a new one and plug it in.
