I have an 02 Durango wih a 4.7L, 105K miles that has been dependable and properly serviced, even the tranny.
I can no longer shift the lever out of park to put it in any gear.
Is there a solenoid or electronic switch i should be looking for or is there something that might be jamed in the steering column.
I am a very good mechanic but where its parked right now i cant get it towed to my shop.

figured it out.
it was the lock mechinisim on the steering column was stuck. lubed it up and all is good.

Anyway, it has also been linked to the brake sensor on top of the braking linkage under the dash. They are a quarter turn and lift out design if I recall.
