i have a 2002 durango with 4.7 in it 2 weeks ago i put in a new fuel pump bc it was long cranking on me it stopped doing it till the other night and its back doing it dose anyone have a idea on what it?
Try just turning the key to the On/Run position for about five seconds then to start. If it starts faster by doing this it’s likely a failed check valve allowing fuel to drain from the fuel rails. Turning the ignition to the On/Run position powers the fuel pump, re-pressurizing the fuel rails prior to starting. I’m not sure about the 4.7l system, but I think the valve is part of the fuel pump assy.
