Default Lift Shackles- like 'em or hate 'em?

My Durango sits 1" high in the rear but with increase in load gives it a nose high attitude. I wanted your opinions on the shackle for additional lift. I already cut and hammered the rear well for tire rubbage and was consered about the shackle causing more forward movement. I run 35s with no body lift. Contact is minimal at full tilt or high speed into driveways. I have cut the eyes out of the old top springs and used it as a add a leaf. Just spent $$$ to have front redone to put back in spec. so I'm not messin with it.

There is no reason to hate it, all it does it lifts the rear 2''. It's no different than an OEM shackle, just longer.

It would seem the suspention geometry would change with a longer fulcrome. The driveline angle changes and the one that I am conserned with is the forward movement as I already make contact with the front of the wheel house after cutting out the fat and hammering the rest flat. I do have the axle fliped with lift. Just wondering if the shackle has adverse effect on movement and axle wrap.

No the shackles are made with metal that is probably just as strong, if not stronger than the OEM shackles. When you crank the Tbars is when your front end gets all whacked out. I still haven't gotten a 4wheel alignment done on my Durango and I did my lift during the summer.

I don't think they are any stronger then OEM, in fact I would say there is way less metal on the Belltech shackle verses OEM shackle. The OEM is a lot stronger.....IMHO

Anytime you take a truck and mess with the suspension you change the geometry. The drive line is well less then 6 degrees so a simple 2" lift has not shown any abnormal degree and ware thus far. You should not get any "Forward" moment because the shackle is in the rear not the front. Replace the leaf bushings with Polyurethane bushings for added stability. If you are looking at a rock crawler shackle then I would make my own. I never did the T/S lift because I didn't like the design personally of the Belltech. I was thinking of getting a set of solid block and forging my own set at one time that would fit perfectly, but I don't own the Durango anymore.

Just my 2 cents.......

You don't need anything stronger. They are just as good.

Mine was lifted when I got it, and its my first durango so I can't really give a opinion other than I don't dislike it. What are these polyurethane bushings? I would like to make sure I have them.

I have a tendency to tow past the factory rating, like 1000lbs past But if they are as good I'm gonna order some as soon as I get my abs straightened out.
