Default cold start

Like a cold start at idle it will die if I rev it up to about 5-6 grand then dive it while going to neutral then drive it will eventually act right but at idle still les than 1000 on my rpm

If its cold you don't need to be revving it to 5-6k anyways

Letme explain it better, when I start my durango, it goes straight to 1250 rpm or so for 2 secs then just drops and dies, only way to keep it running is to turn it on , put it in neutral and hold a high rev on motor, if I try to throw it into reverse or drive it will die instantly, if I keep playing with throttle holding high rev, after bout 5 mins to 10 mins it will finnaly hold an idle and I can drive, any ideas?

I had the same issue, with my 99SLT 5.9L . Changed the IAC and cleaned out the port this corrected the issue. Engine starts up now immediately and holds idle no prob. ...... Oddly though i still have the issue like "noise_maker", where my engine will idle fine now at start, then begin to stumble for 2-3 min then smooth it self out and run fine.

sorry i meant the same problem as "dctaz37" not noisemakers prob. (noisemakers also sounds like the IAC.)

IAC or simply clean the IAC port and Throttle Body for that matter, and reset the PCM. If that doesn't help replace the TPS.
