I bought a 2000 Durango from an auction for a very good price. When I first started driving I noticed a quiet ticking on start up and it all but dissapeared after warm up.This didn't bother me too much untill I decided to take my trailer out camping. The truck pulled the travel trailer with little effort untill I hit the mountains.I was crawling up a large hill at about 60 kmph trying not to drop into low gear but low and behold she dropped into low jumping to about 4500-5000 rpm.Well it was'nt long that we got back home the truck still sounding ok so I did'nt think any damage had occured. The next day I went to drive my wife across the city it sounded the same as usuall on startup but by the time I got half way back the sounds comming out were not good. It sounded like a hydraulic lifter had collapsed. It kinda fades in and out and seems to increase with rpm.I immediatly took it in to a local garage were it received an engine flush, pulled the plentum out to check for something rattling around new plugs oil change timing chain and tensioners inspection.oh yea and compression test. nothing seems to have worked. Does anybody have any ideas on what I should do next????
