Default Plowing with your D

Anyone plow with their D. Pro's Con's what kind of wear and tear do you get or could happen. I used to plow with my Blazer (small one) and it was a beast didn't really do much to it.

So good idea or bad idea?

anything is possible with the will and a large checkbook.... but, a plow is to heavy for the front end of the D to handle. you would have to start with a replacement for that... another words... BAD IDEA!

After looking at the frame on these things, I doubt you could talk me into using it for a plow. They're pretty light duty. Aside from that, there's probably no quicker way to wear out an entire drivetrain of a vehicle than putting a snow plow on it.

anything with independant front suspension should not be used for plowing IMO

can it be done, sure if you dont mind replacing alot of stuff on a pretty frequent basis, however you need at least a 1500 series truck to plow safely, and even then they have trouble with it which is why most trucks you see plowing are 2500/3500+ HD trucks

OK so bad idea so not going to do it. I'll just have to have fun in the snow and mud with it then.

We've used my dad's 93 chevy 1/2ton for plowing. We've never had a problem until 230k when some idiots used it to plow snow. They used 4hi and pushed 4ft piles like that, good thing my uncle rebuilds trannys. They didn't last long, someone say fired.......... BTW that truck has 315k on it now

Plowing snow is a tricky balance, kinda like girlfriends/wifes. You have to know what you're doing or you can really mess up stuff.

D's are awesome for some snow fun, which looking at the forecast I'm gonna be doing donuts this weekend, gotta celebrate the first snow of the year some how......
