Anyone have an in-line wiper fluid heater? Pros/cons? I'm considering one...

 

Wait...why would you have one? I have never had my wiper fluid freeze...then again I change it twice a year to compinsate for the weather...

 

Melts the ice in the winter. Cleans bugs, dirt and grime better throughout the year. It heats the fluid up to 175°F ...Ever tried to wash a car with cold water vs hot water?

 

Ahh...i didn't know it heated it up that much. Guess that makes since. I dont know if I would have it...just seems like it would pull more power from the alt...guess it would mostly be a matter of what you want more. If you want it go for it! lol Then tell us how you like it and mabey I might get one...

 

I just take about a gallon of hot tap water (about 120 degrees F) and pour it on the windshield slowly and turn on the windshield wipers to wipe about once every 15 seconds. Now I know your going to look at me like whatever and it will shatter it, but it won't. Now if you take cold water to a hot windshield it will crack.

Been doing this for a few years even with a chip in the window and still nothing even on 3 different vehicles, and even below zero conditions to about -25 F. I know it sounds weird and it shouldn't be, but it works fine, trust me. I go out and start my truck, brush off the window of fresh snow, melt the ice and turn on the wipers. If no snow then I start the truck, turn on the wipers as stated and gently pour the hot water and the ice melts away. No harm no foul.

 

That works but only when you are in your own driveway. What about leaving work or when you're out of town?
