Default Size and type speakers

What size and type of speakers do I need for my 99 Durango? It has the Infinity system with 2 speakers on rear doors and 2 speakers on front doors with 2 tweeters. I'm just looking to replace the speakers because they are shot. Thanks

Not sure on the size, but mine came with Kenwood speakers and they sound amazing. Mine did have the head unit replaced with a Pioneer by the PO as well though.

I want to say that are 6.5" for all four of them...But dont quote me there. You can pull the door panel off really easy to check. Or call Best Buy and ask the sound guys, they can look it up as well.

6.5 is the proper size.
If you still have doubts go to Crutchfield.com and use their speaker selection tool.

The Infinity speakers in my 99 D are shot also.
I'm looking at leaving the tweeters in the front doors and putting Sony XPlods in the doors.
I have only one pair at the moment and I'm waiting until I have the 2nd pair to replace them all.
They aren't expensive and I was looking at still using the original stereo.

I have a 2001 and all door speakers are 6.5. If your referring to the basic xplods available at walmart.. They suck. With the original stereo. Even put an xplod deck in.. they still suck. Theyre high pitched.. no bass.. no depth. Im switching to Alpine.

Naw, you gotta do it right lol. Replace the deck and speakers all you want, but that measly wiring prohibits a lot. Nothing wrong with Sony at all.

Does this pertain to everyone with Infinity stereos? I believe I read on here somewhere that because of the factory amp, you can only use certain (ohm) speakers. I have the Infinity 8 speaker system and plan on replacing the speakers soon, thats why I ask.

these trucks all came with 2 ohm speakers in them

i have heard both ways, you need tor eplace with 2ohm, and i have also heard that 4 ohm speakers (more standard) will work fine, just be a little bit softer at a given volume setting.
