Default 4.7 to 5.9

Sorry. I am new here. I also have looked at some of the other posts. None of which helped. Everyone seem to recommend the hemi which would be a great choice if affordable. But, My question is. I have a 98 complete Durango with 5.9. Engine and transmission are great and working. Rear end shot. For the price of another rear end I bought a 2000 Durango (better body condition than my 98) with a 4.7 that knocks. I was given the Lash adjusters with the truck to try. But if that doesn't get rid of it..... How difficult would it be to switch the stuff out my 98 to the 2000 and would it be logically possible? I loved my 5.9. It won't quit. Thanks for your time

since you have the whole donor truck it shouldnt be too hard to do. howeve ryou will be changing

engine
transmission
motor/tranny mounts
wire harness
pcm
(pretty much everything under the hood needs to be swapped out in order to make this work)

Here is the best advise you can get... sell both vehicles and buy one to replace them that is setup the way you want already. Want a 4.7? Buy a 4.7. Want a 5.x? Buy a 5.x. There is nothing worth all the work to try to place a round peg in a square hole. Swapping a 4.7 to a 5.x or vice versa is simply NOT worth the effort or effort related to cost.

Why not just swap the rear end, or even both front and rear if the ratio is different. Can the pieces that are in bad shape on your 98 swappable also or is the damage too severe?

I am gonna go +1 here as well...unless it is just for fun, in your spare time kind of thing I would either sell them both as a whole or part them out and just buy another rig with the money.
Easier, quicker, etc....
