Default Evap Leak hose kit P0455

Maybe I am just really late on this one, but I FINALLY got around to replacing my evap hoses for the fuel vapor return.

I was at the parts store about to purchase a length of hose off their bulk spool to replace the curved ends that plug into the canister at the gas tank. The guy said they carry a repair kit with pre-cut, pre-formed, and flanged hoses just for my Durango. This kit saved me a bunch of money by not having to buy $6 foot hose, clamps, and a reducer because one of the hoses has different sized ends on it.

The kit is by Dorman, part # 46020. Rock Auto has this kit for $3.44
The kit has both the large hose and the small hose, you really can't beat the price. It says it is for Dodge Durango & Dakota, 2001-2004, and they fit on there perfectly. 5 minute job to swap out the cracked ones with new ones.

I was throwing a P0440, P0442 and P0456. I replaced the gas cap and now only throw 442 and 456. From what I could find it is just a small vapor leak and to test it i need some special tool to detect that kind of thing. I'm stationed in the UK and dont have access to any shops that know anything about american vehicles. Could it just be these two hoses? Could it really be that simple?

it is possible(very likely) that that these hoses will fix the issue

P0442 Evap Leak Monitor Medium Leak Detected
P0456 Evap Leak Monitor Small (0.020) Leak Detected

Crawl under your truck and look for a small black box just to the rear of the drivers seat. You'll see two hoses coming from it. Examine them closely for splits & cracks (they most likely are dried out at the ends). Repair & replace as needed. This kit is nice because the lines are different diameters at each end, so a normal piece of hose won't work without adaptors.

The other "hidden" place to look for a leak is a rubber line located under the battery tray. Someone here turned me on to that one, otherwise I would have never found it!

Thanks. I'll check when I get home. The hoses were so cheap from rockauto I just ordered them anyways without even inspecting it. Of the three common problems with 99 to 02 durangos I have them all. The evap problem, rear heater not working cause of the broken door and the resistor problem. I just bought the thing a couple months and only paid 4500 for it with 110K on it. I think I got a pretty good deal because these fixes are really simple and cheap.

Soto26, how do you fix the broken door for the rear heat? Please PM me since this post isn't about the door.
