Default HVAC Issues

Hey guys my girlfriend has a 2000 Durango 4x4 thats got hvac issues. The blower motor will only blow at one speed, no matter what speed its on. And also the temperature wont get up on the highest heat setting even after running for about 20 minutes on the highway. Any suggestions?

Replace the blower motor resistor.

What do you mean won't get up to the highest setting, you mean on the instrument cluster switch or the actual output temperature is low?

Its VERY important to check the terminals on the resister connector too, if it has any discoloration or looks like it has gotten hot, dark or burnt connectors will cause you more problems later, you can purchase the conector to replace it, and I highly recomend that they be sodered onto the wires, NOT butt connectors. I jsut had a 02 town and country with a 3.3 that some one put a new resistor on and it only lasted about a month or so and it actually burnt the ground wire out of the connector and melted 4 other terminals.. She said smoke was rolling from under the dash. when i seen that i couldn't believe it didn't start a fire..The person that replaced the resistor had to miss the bad terminals when he replaced it...Just a heads up. This happens a lot. Not saying you will have this problem, but just make sure
