The +4 is fine,it supercedes the +3. I've been told to treat the P/S the same as the trans. No generics, universal fluids or stop leaks, recommended fliud only. How long have you been running the Wally fluid in it? Did you NEED the stop leak?
id say the ps is LESS picky than the trans, i did put an off the shelf brand (not sure what) into mine when i did the hoses simply bc noone had the good stuff in stock, im not worried about it for the ps, but stop leak is definitely a bad idea
also chrysler has an approved ATF +4 list, fluid manufacturers can put meets ATF +4 specs, but unless they have made it on the chrysler approved list they have not been tested by chrysler so i wouldnt use it.

I used the Wal-Mart Super Tech ATF+4 brand when I did mine. Ran about 6 bucks (USD) a quart. Used 16 Quarts for filters change out (the 45RFE has both a pan and spin on filter) plus a full purge out of the old fluid. Then I still ended up topping off with a couple of quarts once I test drove and spun through all the gears.
MasterTech has a good write-up on the purge process in this forum if you decide to go this route. The only thing I would add is the disconnect of the tranny return line from the radiator is kind of a PITA - it works much better if you spray a little PB in the hose end, before working it with the 3/8 in line disconnect tool.

compatable with Dexron3 and ATF+3
See, ATF+3 or ATF+4 is an advanced mixture of specifically formulated oils and additive specifically designed to lubricate your transmission. THey are NOT to be reckoned with. I can even say that my mineral oil could work in yout trans, but are you going to trust me just cause I say it is compliant, or are you going to go get the right stuff?
ATF+4 has replaced ATF+3 and there is even a TSB stating that issued by Chrysler. WIth that said, pay the extra bucks and get ATF+4 because it is far superior to ATF+3 which has a high sear factor. Obviously I always use Fully Synthetic ATF+4 and that is usually Valvoline, or even NAPA has a house blend that is Fully Synthetic ATF+4 that is a few bucks cheaper and I think is bottled at the same plant.
Now in some Transfer Cases the manual states you can use ATF Dextron, but even that I would not use. I only use ATF+4 in everything I recommend. Now on the other hand I have been experimenting with Mobil One Fully Synthetic ATF and so far it kicks ***. But until my experiment is over I would not recommend it.
By Tuesday i will have ALL fluids a Mobil One Synthetic blend
Sorry, I was gone for the holidays.
I have had the power steering with stop leak from wally world in for close the 3K miles and have no problems. It really actually made it better personally. I pulled the hose and pumped out as much fluid as I could get out. Had to use almost 2 bottles to fill the system back up.

well 10 litres of Mobile ATF+4 wasn't enough, gotta go get more tommorow. its showing a tiny bit on the bottum of the stick. oh well, engine ran long enough to burp enough air out of the coolant so the heat works now, and got hot enough for the electric fan to come on(left the mechanical fan off for now) so thats all good.
