Wheel Bearing!!
2001 durango 4.7 4x4 rear abs!! Just put a new wheel bearing on the front left and now everytime i'm rolling in reverse (no brake no gas) I get a loud squeal. Not a constant squeal, the sound is broken up a bit. Any ideas on what i should look at?? Is my bearing defective??? Thanks so much!
if it was the wheel bearing it would usually make going forwards too, not just in reverse. Wheel bearings make more of a grinding sound than a squeal when they go, so that leads me tho think of something else. Is it possible that one of the backing plates (if that's the right name for them) is rubbing the rotor?
Im interested in this as well, my front left tire makes a squealing sound as well in reverse and forward but only at low speed (like 5-10mph) just havent torn apart to see what it is, im thinking of spraying some brake cleaner on there and seeing if it helps (or lube it up)
Yes it is in drive too but not as loud or annoying! I sprayed brake cleaner on the rotor before i put it all back together so don't think that would be a quick fix. I wouldn't think anything is rubbing but it could be possible. It would be a week or two depending on the weather (and not having a garage) before I tear it all apart again but was wondering if anyone had any quick ideas!
