Default Rear Differential

I have decided I am probably going to replace my rear diff fluid this weekends. Had a couple questions...

What type of gear oil to us? 75w-90?

How Many Quarts?

How do I know if I have LSD?

2qts per diff (actually takes less, just fill to a bit below the plug)

check your manual for the weight

jack up the rear end and try to spin the tire on one side, if the other side spins the same way then you have LSD, if it spins backwards, you have an open diff.

LSDs require a friction modifier to be added to the differential fluid (it only takes 4oz of friction modifier and it's about $5). The differential fluid is 75W-90. I personally use Mobile-1 LS 75W-90

75w-90 and you can go with the mobil 1 or royal purple. I went with royal purple and never added the modifier. Havent had any problems in 6 months.

simple fact is if you want your limited slip to last a long time you gotta treat it right... so if you have a lsd put in the friction modifier.
