Default rear suspension idea

i was wondering if it was possible to put in the rear leaf springs from a 2000 ram 1500 or 2500 into a 2000 durango 2wd 5.2L. it would be nice to be able to pull full flat bed car trailers without the back end bottoming out. is there any chance they would fit in place of the stock leafs on the durango or what would have to be modified to make it work?

If I am right Ram's have leafs on the top of their axles and not the bottom like we have.
If you really need some more in the rear might I mention these?

you can also get air bags that are adjustable so you can keep your suspension level

airbags are the way to go, the ram springs are heavier and wider (wont fit in our mounts) and longer iirc(wont fit between our mounts)

for the price/time/effort the airbags are the correct way to increase the load capacity.

are you using an equalizer hitch? are you loading the trailer correctly to not cause to much tounge weight? are you trying to tow more weight then your vehicle is legally and/or safely able to tow. and just becuase it will tow it dosn't make it legal or safe.

i have not pulled a full car trailer yet becuase my current suspension is screwed up. my durango has almost 200k on it. i love the thing to death so i am starting to replace everything on it. and the whole leaf spring thing was an idea i was throwing around in my head, just thought it would be nice to put something heavier duty in it. i guess my new question is where can i get a complete diy airbag kit?

You would be best off to replace the current ones, and do a helper spring (cheapest option) or air bags (best most expensive option). Firestone has a system, its called the Ride Rite system. Hydrashocker used to run it on his D. Guys that have them around here love em'. One of the local tire suspension centers carries/installs them. I have towed very heavy car trailer loads on my wore out factory ones without bottoming the suspension (165k miles now).

Ive heard people who have the air bags always have problems with them...I had 4 of them on a toyota back in high school. I had to replace 5 of them in a years time. Just had the pop alot. But I was also young and stupid so...lol
I did love them. When you run 35's on a SAS system it can be stiff, but air bags were amazing for comfort.

These are air helpers, not air suspension roller, huge difference. They are a little tougher than your toyotas were. Heck thats what semi trucks use as there main suspension is air bags, no leafs.

Oh, I was thinking the firestone air bags you put inbetween your coil springs.
I kept over inflating them and getting rocks busting them and branches...
