Default Need info on a '99 Durango

Well, I have a trade offer for a '99 Durango 5.9 auto. It's lowered 6in on 2nd gen 16in wheels. It has 145,000, Flows, and is lowered, not much is done to it. Is there anything to look for? Any know problems,or too high miles? What's it worth? I'll try to KBB it but I'm not very good with this internetmachine thing. Outside is fair for the year and inside appears clean, 3rd row seating, passenger fender looks terrible, they didn't match the paint color at all and doesnt appear to have clear on it.

Trade is my '95 Accord, needs lowering kit redone, interior is nasty besides the door panels, no air bags in it, just holes. The sunroofs spiderwebbed, needs 1 tire badly, but his may need all soon, and needs paint on the hood, new front and rear bumpers, and trunk. Mine has 182,000 miles nut it's a Honda lol.

Durango definitely looks better. Me, I personally tend to not like buying already modified vehicles.

Most likely you're just acquiring someones problem.

But it's all up to you. I'd say with the exterior paint issue on the Durango, it MAY be worth $1500-2000 TOPS. No flares indicates its (unless removed) a lower model truck with low options. I also have to say I disagree with it being lowered 6".. Looks more like 3".

That's what the owner said, it's 6. I do know it's a full power Durango with the 5.9(what he said), but the inside is power windows and locks. I'd have to say my cars worth more than $1,500.

I'm not sure what you mean by 2nd gen wheels. Those look like stock R/T ones... Don't get me wrong they are really nice though. As long as regular maintenence is done, the 5.9 is a very reliable engine(200k on mine). Just give it a full tune up when/if you get it. I think the biggest problems with Durangos is the electronics. Power windows/locks/etc... I personally do not care for little tuner cars so as long as everything on the Durango seems in check I'd do it.

that definately isn't 6 inches lower than stock, maybe 3 like logik said. One thing I'd be worried about is why that fender and the corner of the front bumper was repainted. Was it wrecked or something? Also those rims are the 16" ones that were on 01-03 1st gens, not the 17" r/t rims or second gen rims

The owner doesn't know what hes talking about if he says it's 6".

Those are stock 2001-2003 Durango SLT rims, NOT R/T rims.

Also, keep in mind that you would be jumping from a car that probably gets 30mpg, to a truck that only gets 17mpg (IF you're lucky)

Yeah like suggested above you might wanna do a full tune up and catch up on maintenance. Maybe ask to look at it a bit and take a drive in it.

as stateda bove, it looks like the paint on that truck is gone (or well on its way, unless thats just a poor quality image)
the 5.9 is a bulletproof motor, i have heard of them going well over 300k miles (more than your honda engine will ever go) with only minimal maintance
the drop is not even close to 6inches, but lowered trucks are pointless really, you kill the capability of it for no gain (and i bet it eats suspension parts too since all the angles are changed)
the rims are the 16inch standard rims nothing special there

as stated buying a vehicle that heavily modified is going to come with problems its a matter of how willing you are to spend the money needed to fix those problems.

according to NADAGuides

Trade values
rough........average......clean.......clean retail
$1,450...... $2,125...... $2,675.......$4,625*

honestly id say that is on the rough side, and then less since its been modified in the way it has just my .02

I wouldnt touch it personally. I bet there are alot of problems that the owner isnt telling you about. As stated by Shrpshtr the suspension geomotry is all out of wack and who knows what havick that has played on the driveline. You might be better off keeping the honda and if you want a D then get one someone hasnt hacked IMO
