Default 98 to 99 Key Fob

I have a key fob from a 98 Durango and I want to use it with my 99 Durango. It doesn't have a Ram's head on it, but it worked fine with the 98. Think it will work with my 99? I have a working fob, but both my wife and I would like one.

if it did work properly with a 98 it should work with a 99. It won't hurt anything to try. Just follow the steps in the second post of this thread.

Default It worked!

The 98 fob worked for my 99. The only thing that is different from before is that neither key fob makes the horn honk when you lock it. I don't think this is a bad thing, but curious if that means that the security isn't on anymore.

that's not because of the remotes, that's a configurable setting in the ctm. The procedure to turn the chirp on and off is in the manual, but I can't remember it off the top of my head

Thanks...Do you know if the security is still working regardless of the chirp? I actually prefer the chirp off if the security is working.

If you have the VTSS it will arm (security light on dash will come on) whether you have it set up to chirp or not
