P0455 Code
Some of you may have experienced this code which involves the emissions. In the last year I have been dealing with this problem only to have replaced all hoses and gas cap with an aftermarket cap. The problem came back! After much frustration I took it to a reputable repair shop. They smoked the system and determined it was a leak detection pump. After going to Dodge dealer to purchase pump which was the only source for the pump the shop did the repair. Fast forward a month and the code came back. I took it back and they smoked it again and suggested I purchase a new gas cap from dealer which I did. I reset code and two days later it came back. Sooo back to the shop! I asked if the pump could be defective and they said they would test it. Well it was a defective pump and was covered by warranty. Now I have a properly operating emmissions system that will now pass state emmissions test. So if any of you experience this problem retest the pump and use a dealer gas cap. Forget the aftermarket one which could cause problems. You can feel the difference in the caps when you place the cap on to the filler neck. You can actually feel it seal properly. I hope this helps any owners of a Durango that are experiencing this problem
Thank you so much for this. Ive done all the same things and going on a month with no codes. If i do get something soon then i will get the leak pump since ive replaced all hoses and also went from an aftermarket cap to a mopar one. Hope this helps other in need of a solution to these emissions codes.

I want to add an update to my emissions problem. After I took my D back and they determined it was a faulty leak detection pump the code came back. So back to the shop. They smoked it again and they did indeed find a leak this time! They determined it was the cause of the leak detection pump failure. I guess the system has to create a vacuum which it then analyzes the system. The leak did not show up during the previous smoke test. The best reason the shop could determine was because of the weather we are having here in North Carolina. I guess it would cause the hose to swell enough to seal during the smoke test but then become loose over night during colder temps as I drove to work. Any way it is repaired now and will now pass inspection. I also want to add the shop performing all of the work did not charge me for any of their work after the initial repair. That is the sign of a great repair shop that takes care of their customers. These guys never gave up until they found the problem. Thanks Apex Auto Service!!
