Just realized you asked about the shift lever too. There is an extension that needs to be welded in. I have yet to do it. But plan to.

How much of a weld? Would it fall out easily if it were only tack welded in or does it need a full bead?

Definately a full bead. I wouldn't trust tacks on something that you tug on. I'd hate to have it fall off in my hand ESP when I'm in need of it. I'm out of welding wire so I'll be doing it next week sometime. But you need to cut the lever in half and weld the extension in. It's just some metal stock thats the same diameter as the lever

The only real thing holding me back is thinking my 31's will be too small with 5" of lift. I certainly can't afford new tires again, and the ones I have now are only 6k miles old. And I guess I dont have access to a welder anymore either.

FWIW, you also don't always need to weld the shift rod. You can easily bolt on an extension if you have any fabrication ability. That's what I'll be doing, because it's much easier than removing the entire assembly, and removable if you want to take the body lift off.

I never extended my shifter, though I will eventually. It's hard to put into 4-LO on the trail.

Yea I havnt done mine yet either. 4low is the only time I have issues as well but I got over it. I though of something to bolt on. It's taking the whole assembly off the underside that's preventing me from welding it
