Question Bigger wheels on 01 4.7L?

Hey folks, I was thinking today and while I have the bigger 16" wheels from the factory I was thinking maybe some bigger wheels would look good. I don't want anything bigger than 18" I know that for sure. I want something that looks like an OEM aluminum look. Nothing chrome. Anyone have any good ideas?

IMO the larger sidewall is the way to go IMO not larger rims, gives you better protection for the rim and saves you money on tires.

I understand this, but it is only an inch or two of difference. so half an inch to one inch bigger on either side of the wheel already. I want to get a body lift eventually and want to run maybe 35's or so but think those might be too big for a 16" wheel. I honestly don't even know if they have 35's for 17's and 18's. Not much knowledge on wheels and what not.

i have a set of 35s off my old chevy in the back yard on 15 inch rims. generally with the larger tires people use smaller rims for protection of the rim and it bubbles out the sidewall which is nicee for offroading

You could get a set of 15 rims off an older D to put 35's on. Besides the standards like 31x10.50r15 tend to be wider than the metric size like 265/70r16 for the height. IMO I would get these and put bigger tires on.........
Are you gonna put some lower gears in to then mopar, like 3.92 or 4.10's to compensate for the bigger tire?

hope you dont mind trimming cause thats most likely what you will be doing to fit 35's with just a body and t/s lift. plus your gonna need 4.1 or 4.56 gearing to run that size of tire.

You don't need to upgrade the gears at all. It would help. BUT I would be looking to upgrade to at least a 4.1 but since I have a 4x4 that is already stoopid expensive. Maybe I'll just go up to 33s.

I wouldn't try to move 35's with 3.55's. Even with a 5.9l

You will need off-set rims to run anything over 12.5" wide. I run 15x8 with 35x12.50x15. I had the stock 15" wheels with 33x12.5 and they scrub the frame. Enless you plan on running a 12 point turn in the parking lot you be fine. BFG reps sujested that I run a 17" wheel to help the road manners of the AT. Never had issuse with 15". More tires are availible in 17" now. Toyo for one is on back order on 15s for ever but the production of 17" is good, same with Goodyear Dynatrac only in 16" and up. The stock 3.92s act like 3.55s with 35s. I plan on gear change soon(4.56) due to a pinion bearing, get it done while its apart.
