I have a code P0420 which says it's the O2 bank 1 sensor that is before the cat right? I have a new sensor but it's a universal one which isn't what I ordered but will make it work, I just need to know what the wires are on the original since the wires on the new one are different.

 

the universal sensor will likely NOT work actually, take it back and demand the correct part, especially if you ordered the correct one

this is either the POST cat sensor or a bad cat, i would actually try resetting (clearing) the code and see if it comes back, if the sensor gets wet this code can sometimes come up.

 

the code for the o2 sensor doesn't come on any more but now a new code is on po171 system to lean bank 1. and it runs rough when you get above 1700 rpm and a little rough when idleing.

 

Already replied the other thread..but run the car for awhile also and see which codes come up and in which order. Like i said if all you get is the p0171, check for vacuum leaks.

 

Thanks for all the help guys the D is back up and running and shrpshtr325 you are an idiot just to let you know the o2 sensor works fine. Just cause you can't figure out how to wire an 02 sensor in doesn't mean it doesn't work.
