Default Multiple Codes and tranny/electric issues

Hello all. I'm new to this forum ( and a newb when it comes to cars ), so bare with me.

I currently own a 2001 Durango 4.7 SLT 4x4

A while back i started having issues with the transmission. It's like it's stuck in a low gear. You can't hear it shifting, the RPMs just slowly rise, and the pick up is terrible. I took it to a shop, and they told me it was either a bad Transmission Computer, or bad ground wiring. I just continued driving it, because being a new mom, I had no money to fix it.

My step Dad and I have decided to try to fix it, now that I have some money to.

I have an OBD II code reader, and these are the codes I pulled

P1781: Pressure switch Circut: OD
P1732: UD pressure switch check
P1733: 4C pressure switch check
P1734: 2C pressure switch check
P1768: Relay always off ( relay stuck open )

luckily I could find out what the codes stand for online. Too bad I don't understand them at all.

My questions are basically, what do those codes mean? and where should I start?

It would be the transmission relay. I have the PDF files for these codes if you need them, just ask and send me your email address. But I would find out why the relay is always off. Maybe a blown fuse or bad relay.

Just got done seeing if it was the relay, and it seems to be good. i took out the horn relay, and swapped it with the trans relay, and the horn still honked. so, you think i should try the fuse?

i'd love to read as much as i could about these codes, so any information about them is more than appreciated.

hour or so later, after replacing the spark plus because the were beyond needing changed, we decided to check the relay again, and my horn didn't honk. put the horns relay into the trans relay port, and vwala! i have all my gears! wooo whooooo! BUT

still have CEL on, but when i hook up the OBD II reader, it says no codes.

disconnect the battery negative cable and hold the key to start for 30 seconds then reattach, i bet the CEL goes out.

tried that, still stayed on. now it's finally throwing a code. P0302.

i had to deal with this not too long ago, thought we fixed it. the wires close to the injector were bare and touching. we separated them, and taped them, code went away.

now that i've fixed my tranny issues, this code is back. we've replaced the spark plugs, coil packs, and the injector. dunno what to check next.

First thing i would do is check compression..if compression is good, then all i would think would be left is to check fuel pressure, then wiring to pcm or possibly a bad pcm......I have actually replaced several pcm's that have caused intermittent or dead skips.....

P0302 Cylinder #2 Misfire

Most likely a bad wire again. You should re-check the "tape" job that was done and instead fix the wire with solder and put shrink tubing over the joint.

Replace that relay that was bad.
