Default New Tie Rod Ends W/ Rack and Pinion Steering

After rebuilding my front suspension I want to put new tie rod ends on to complete my project. My question for any one with rack and pinion is do I have to replace the inner tie rod at the R/P piston. I know I need the outer tie rod ends but I am somewhat baffled about what I have to do with the rest of the tie rod. When I look up the parts I see an inner and outer. What parts do I need to order and how would you replace the inner if I need to replace them. It is incased in a rubber accordion boot. I have a 2001 "D" 4.7 RWD.

Never done the R&P, but the older versions just screw on. You should feel for movement back and forth and replace if needed. If it were me, I would replace both the inner and outer, but remember there is a left and right side on the outer rod end so install it correctly.

Thanks Hydra,my "D" must not be normal!! You are the only person to respond. Is the R&P not a common option? I did see in another post about a left and right side but the poster did not have the same set up I have. Thanks again I will have to do some more research.
