Thumbs up 2000 Durango Trasmission Surges In/Out of All Gears

2000 Durango 4.7L 91k miles, has been slipping in and out of gears 1-2 (hard shift) 2-3 (slips in/out w/high rpms) 3-4 (slips in/out w/high rpms) 4-od (slips in/out w/high rmps) This only occurs when the engine has warmed up and not when cold. Park: engine revs up to about 1.5k - 2k rpms and also in neutral. Only way to get it to come back down is hit the gas n let off.

I have been reading all the suggestions on here and just want to say Thanks to shrpshtr325 & hydrashocker for their Suggestions & commentary...you guys kick ***. I went to Autozone and they ran a diagnostic - no errors, but because of the recommendations here I purchased the TPS, switched it out, reset the PCM TCM.... This vehicle has never run this smooth. I bought it about 10 yrs ago and there's always been minor trans shift probs. This thing shifts smooth no matter stop n go or gunning it on the freeway.

Next on the list: tighten Trans bands per recommendation.

I just want to give kudos to Dodge Forum shrpshtr325 & hydrashocker!

thanks for letting us know, its always nice to be appreciated.

just going to point out that the 4.7 in 2000 only came with a 4 spd transmission. (what you are seeing as 5th gear is the torque converter lockup)
