Im trying to fix some "minor" inconveniences in my truck and know that the backseat passenger side window does not go down. When you hit the button you dont hear or see anything, it does nothing. I listen to make sure that something isnt moving around in there and its not. I dont know if they have fuses but I checked them all, that I could find, and they are all good. I know that there is a motor in there but before I fork out the cash for another expensive fix, could there be something else wrong or should I just order the darn motor? Thanks

 

I would just go to a scrap yard and grab a motor.

I have also heard that if the switch is bad put the window up and down then they both won't work.

 

i would try to replace the drivers side master switch before looking at the motor, if that is bad then the motor wont work, you should be able to find the master control panel in a junkyard relatively cheaply

 

You could jump the wires for that window in the switch and see if it works. If it does than its probably the switch. I don't have my FSM with me right now so maybe someone can post the wiring diagram. If its not the switch I agree with it being the motor

I personally have never come across an actual power window motor fail in a Durango. Not to say it isn't possible, but I've never come across it.

Keep in mind, all the power windows are fed power through the drivers master window switch. If you remove that switch from the system, you will not be able to roll down any windows from their individual door switches.

Also, just to mention, I've had problems before with the drivers side master switch coming slightly unplugged behind the doorpanel, and I've lost the ability to roll up/down my passenger side front window. So, it may even be as easy as just checking the connection.

 

I had a motor fail last year. It was about $90 at Auto Zone.

 

I had to replace 2 window motors in my durango. I have also sold 2 of them to different people out of my parts Durango. Im thinking this is becoming a common problem.

 

+1 on checking connections and fuses first. This seems like a common problem with the D. My rear passenger window won't roll down but I can hear the motor trying to go, so as soon as I get a chance I'm going to replace the motor and regulator assembly. From my checking around they are about $100 and there is a great video on YouTube showing how to replace it yourself. It's super easy and doesn't require any special tools or knowledge, just a little finesse. I just replaced one on a buddy's Blazer and it works like new now.

I have a power window motor setup for that door that i took out of a 98 durango. If your interested let me know. Selling it for $50 plus shipping.
