Default system readiness fail

went to emmisions and failed due to a system readiness fail. just came back from my buddys house and hooked it to his more advanced obd2 scanner and it said the same thing. trying to figure out where to look to get the problem fixed, electrical issue or ecu messed up.

Did you disconnect the battery recently, or have any sort of service done recently?

I fail emissions a few months ago for the same reason. The Catalytic Converter and Oxygen Sensors were in a 'Not Ready' state. Whenever the battery is disconnected or the PCM flashed, the vehicle has to go through a drive cycle (different versions of what that really is) to put the sensors in a ready state to give off a code. They said to simply drive the truck for about 150 miles and bring it back in and it the sensors should be ready. Drove it a couple of hundred miles, highway driving has to be involved, and passed inspection on the next try.

The sensors have to be in a 'ready' state, so you simply cannot disconnect a battery to get rid of the check engine light (to pass emissions) which will come back later on. Just drive it and try it again, that should take care of it.

Do you know which code or codes are triggered?
